The children began their end-of-the year Kindergarten camp.  The kids get to use all of the skills they learned this year to play, create, and have lots of fun!  The students will have a full week of "campfires", stories, games, crafts, and special "camp" snacks.

Critter Camp

Down by the Pond

5/09/16

The Kindergarten kids discovered a whole new area of our school grounds as they took a walk by the pond.  Holding their nets, magnifying glasses, and containers, we went off to search for living things from plants to bugs to birds.  Our goal was to use all of our five senses to discover this part of our marvelous world.

The kids caught bugs, felt the soft seeds of the cat tails, examined what looked like berries on a bush, observed the wildlife around the pond, and even tasted delicious (or not-so-delicious) dandelions!

Once we returned to the school, we recorded our findings and discuseed what we discovered.  It was a beautiful, hot, 90 degree day!

The Wedding of Q and U

4/20/18
After a week of preparations for the big day, the letters "Q" and "U" finally got married.  The students made flowers for decorations and "dressed up" the letters with colorful tissue paper for the big day.  The children sorted all of "Q" and "U"s wedding gifts before the ceremony so that they would only get times that started with the /qu/ sound, and not the /k/ sound.  The kindergarten kids made veils and bow ties and dressed up for the ceremony.  The letters were walked down the aisle by two Kindergarten friends, agreed to their vows of always sticking together by responding with /qu/, and had a reception with cake and dancing.  It was fun for all!
